Delta Council and Delta F.A.R.M. invite you and your spouse to a special event for Future Delta, intended to recognize and gather the Delta’s future leaders who are involved in farming and allied agricultural businesses in our 19-county region.
The 12th Annual Future Delta event will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., and we will once again be at the Stovall Gin in Stovall, MS at the 3rd Annual Mighty Roots Music Festival. All meeting attendees will receive a VIP Weekend pass for themselves and spouse for the festival weekend. That’s $350 in festival tickets for a festival that features bluegrass, country, reggae, Americana, and blues. (www.mightyrootsfestival.com).
We are pleased to announce the meeting will feature Hunt Shipman, a Principal and Director with Cornerstone Government Affairs in Washington, DC and Jackson, MS. Hunt, who is the former Deputy Under Secretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services and acting Deputy Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs, will discuss progress on the 2023 Farm Bill and offer significant actions ongoing in Washington that affect Delta agriculture. He is the former staff director for the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, a former Professional Staff Member at the Senate Appropriations Committee; and served on the personal staff of U.S. Senator Thad Cochran. He is a graduate of Mississippi State University where he was inducted into the University’s Hall of Fame, received the College of Agriculture’s Distinguished Service Award, and was named the 2012 Alumni Fellow.
If you indicate you will attend, you will be able to pick up your wristband(s) at the festival check-in immediately prior to the meeting. The wristband offers to the festival both Friday and Saturday. Please reply to Shelia Smith at Delta Council in order to receive your passes. (Your reserved credentials will be voided after 4 p.m. on Friday if you and/or your spouse cannot attend.)
Thank you for your participation and leadership in agriculture and our region, and we hope that you and your spouse or companion can join us for this special event in honor of you. Please reply to [email protected] as soon as possible so you can confirm your attendance and reserve your passes.
Sincerely,
Bubba Simmons, President Wade Litton, Chairman
