Auxin Herbicides: How to Comply in Mississippi
This Question & Answer document provides guidance for purchasing and complying with new federal label requirements for the use of auxin specific herbicides for the 2018 growing season.

Step 1 – To Purchase

What do I need to purchase auxin containing herbicides for in-crop use for the 2018 growing season?
  • You must have active pesticide certification.
  • Complete the one-time Dicamba/2,4-D herbicide training, if you did not complete in 2017.
  • Training may be accessed at http://www.auxintraining.com - Dicamba/2,4-D Herbicide Technology Training (Required for purchase)
  • After successful completion, individuals receive email verification from the MDAC and endorsement on their pesticide certification.

 Step 2 – To Apply
Applicators who plan to physically apply the dicamba herbicides (XtendiMax, FeXapan and Engenia) must undergo *NEW* label required annual applicator training.  This training was recently imposed due to label changes by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

What are the new Federal label changes for XtendiMax, FeXapan and Engenia for 2018?
  • All 3 products are Federal Restricted Use
  • Annual applicator training
  • Training may be accessed at http://www.auxintraining.com  - Dicamba Applicator Training
  • After successful completion, individuals will receive a notice of completion and must retain for 2 years.
  • Robust record-keeping requirements
  • Restrictions to wind speeds and application times
  • Tank clean-out
  • Susceptible crop language

What is required if I did not complete the Dicamba/2,4-D Herbicide Technology Training (Required for Purchase) in 2017, but I am purchasing and physically applying XtendiMax, FeXapan and Engenia for the 2018 growing season?
  • Completion of the Dicamba/2,4-D Herbicide Technology Training (Required for purchase) will be accepted by MDAC to cover individuals for both purchase and application in 2018.

What is required if I completed the Dicamba/2,4-D Herbicide Technology Training (Required for Purchase) in 2017 and I am physically  applying XtendiMax, FeXapan and Engenia for the 2018 growing season?
  • Dicamba Applicator Training must be completed in order to fulfill the *NEW* federal label requirements for annual training.

What is required if I completed the Dicamba/2,4-D Herbicide Technology Training (Required for purchase), but I am NOT the individual making the physical application of XtendiMax, FeXapan and Engenia?
  • Those individual(s) you are supervising are required to complete the annual Dicamba Applicator Training.

Are there any other auxin training courses I can take to fulfill these requirements?
  • No, only the Dicamba/2,4-D Herbicide Technology Training (Required for purchase) and Dicamba Applicator Training provided by Mississippi State University – Extension Service has been approved by the Mississippi Department of Agriculture & Commerce.
