Delta 1000 is a program begun by Delta Council over 30 years ago to ask all members of Delta Council to pay a minimum of $100 over & above their regular membership dues. This support through the "Delta 1000" Program has helped Delta Council Mantain one of the most effective area-wide economic development programs in the entire nation.

Although the region's economy has historically been tied to the "feast or famine" cycles of the agricultural industry which is so important to our region, it has been through the active involvement of area leaders that the organization of Delta Council is recognized in Jackson, Washington, and among state, federal, and local agencies as one of the most responsible regional voices representing all business and agricultural interests.

Recognizing that the collective resources of a region often allow the Delta to compete in those instances when individual local efforts might be limited, Delta Council continues to serve a vital role in the area's future. The gains that have been achieved in this region would not have been possible without carefully coordinated efforts by area leaders through the organization of Delta Council.

For those of you who are already members, thank you for your unsurpassed support of this important organization. And to those that are not memebers, I hope that you will join others who are working every day to make the Mississippi Delta a better place to live.
